Job Description

Responsibility:

  • Administer vaccines to clients of all age groups following standard protocols and procedures.
  • Ensure accurate dosage and correct administration techniques according to the vaccine requirements.
  • Provide information to clients and caregivers on vaccination schedules, possible side effects, and aftercare.
  • Address questions and concerns regarding immunization, promoting the benefits of vaccination and maintaining health.
  • Manage vaccine supplies, monitor stock levels, and report shortages to ensure an uninterrupted vaccination program.
  • Maintain a record of vaccine storage conditions, following cold chain protocols to ensure vaccine efficacy.
  • Record vaccination details for each client, including vaccine type, batch number, and administration date.
  • Prepare and submit monthly vaccination reports and records as required by the health facility or program guidelines.
  • Adhere to IPC standards, including proper disposal of sharps and medical waste.
  • Ensure cleanliness and sterilization of equipment to prevent contamination.
  • Participate in community outreach initiatives to increase awareness of vaccination programs.
  • Conduct sessions on the importance of immunization and encourage community participation.
  • Work with healthcare teams to coordinate vaccination drives and campaigns.
  • Attend regular team meetings to discuss vaccination coverage, challenges, and strategies for improvement.

Activities:

  • Administer vaccines and monitor clients for any immediate adverse reactions.
  • Counsel clients on the importance of follow-up doses and provide reminders for upcoming vaccinations, especially for the EPI schedule.
  • Provide reassurance to clients, especially parents or caregivers, on the safety and efficacy of vaccines.
  • Maintain accurate records of vaccine administration in the health information system.
  • Follow all infection prevention measures, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Participate in training programs to stay updated on new vaccines, protocols, and best practices.

Job Requirements

Experience: At least 2 years of experience working in an NGO/Hospital as a vaccinator or in a similar position.  Training and experience in vaccination administration, vaccine dose, schedule, side effects, contraindications, and EPI.Excellent communication skills.Basic computer skills.Willingness to work in hard to reach area.Ability to work under pressure.
