Sub Assistant Engineer/Shift Engineer-Polish & Squaring and Quality Control, Tiles

Polish & Squaring

• Ensure smooth and uninterrupted operation of the Polish & Squaring production line during the assigned shift.

• Supervise the polishing and squaring processes to achieve the required surface finish, dimensional accuracy, and edge quality.

• Monitor machine performance and ensure compliance with production targets and quality standards.

• Inspect polished and squared tiles for defects such as scratches, chipped edges, cracks, uneven polishing, and dimensional variations.

• Coordinate with the Production, Quality Control, Mechanical, and Electrical Maintenance teams to minimize downtime and maximize productivity.

• Ensure compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), safety regulations, and company policies.

• Maintain accurate shift records, including production output, machine downtime, quality issues, and maintenance activities.

• Ensure proper housekeeping and maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment in the Polish & Squaring section.

• Conduct shift handover by communicating operational status, ongoing issues, and pending work to the incoming shift.
  

Quality Control

• Monitor production at different stages (slurry, spray dryer, pressing, and glazing, firing).

• Check tile dimensions, surface smoothness, and drying/firing behavior.

• Ensure glaze uniformity, proper shade matching, and surface finish during production.

• Conduct final inspection of tiles (size, thickness, water absorption, flexural strength).

• Identify and record defects (war page, cracks, pinholes, glaze defects, shade variation).

• Approve or reject finished products based on quality standards.

• Maintain daily inspection and test reports for all production stages.

• Record data of rejected tiles and analyze reasons for rejection.

• Prepare and submit daily/weekly/monthly QC reports to management.

• Work with production, laboratory, and maintenance teams to resolve quality issues.

• Communicate with supervisors and operators about corrective actions.

• Assist senior QC engineers in product trials and quality improvement projects.

• Follow safety and housekeeping standards in quality inspection areas.

• Ensure measuring instruments and testing equipment are calibrated.

• Comply with ISO/ASTM/EN or company-specific quality standards.

• Suggest process improvements to reduce rejection rate and improve product quality.

• Participate in root cause analysis of defects and implement corrective measures.

• Support initiatives for cost reduction, efficiency, and product development.

• Market Complain reduced and customer satisfaction.

Good leadership, communication, and team management skills.        Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.Proficiency in MS Office and production reporting
