Summary of the Position:
Under the overall responsibility and control of Team Leader the Medical Officer will carrying out his/her duty. His/her main responsibility is to check and diagnosis eye related problems of patients who will come to Eye Care Center and Eye camp. S/he will also provide technical support to the field level staff who identify the primary eye related patients.
Description of Responsibilities:
Planning
Support the Eye Care Project team and prepare annual work plan and monthly action plan.
To support the management in decision making
Implementation
Clinical Tasks: Consult Eye patients, perform minor eye operations and supervise Ophthalmic Health Assistant, Refractionist, OT Assistant and other relevant staff members.
Screening cataract and other eye diseases in center and community level.
Provide support in activities for Eye Care Project in the relevant geographical areas;
To support identify training need and ensure training to concern staff;
Supervise and provide technical support to OHAs;
Supervise and provide support for proper recording of patients and updating information to ensure improved case detection and treatment success;
Participate in the community level eye camp for assessing and providing definitive treatment and guidelines to manage the condition.
Coordinate and provide in referral of Eye operation cases;
Facilitated monthly and quarterly staff meeting to review progress and develop action for further improvement of the program.
Attend the project related meetings to get inform on project activities strategies, policies and goals and seek input and direction;
Prepare action –taking report monthly base on previous findings.
Monitoring, Supervision and Coordination:
Maintain regular coordination with Govt. Health Officials;
Ensure contact tracing activities and supervise the work of the supervisory staffs directly through regular field visit providing technical support.
Support Manager (Hospital Management) in maintaining overall coordination with staff and program participants.
Manage staff through coaching and mentoring and take initiative to develop their capacity through need assessment, on the job training and organize training
Support Manager (Hospital Management) to evaluate staff performance through appraisal annually and provide feedback for further development
Reporting And Dissemination:
Ensure timely, accurate and complete reporting as per the requirement
Ensure any other report as and when necessary
Others
Medical Officer will also be responsible to perform other functions (not listed above) as may be required and assigned to him/her by the management of RDRS.
Age At most 40 years Age may be relaxed for highly experienced candidatesExperience in OPD and IPD patient managementExperience in Community level sight assessment programSound knowledge on Eye health related issues
