Job Description

Project Brief: The Medhabikash Scholarship Programme, a BRAC-funded initiative, and the Cultural & Sports Olympiad, a flagship initiative of the BRAC Education Programme, work together to create equitable opportunities for young people by supporting academically talented students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds to pursue higher education and enabling adolescents to develop creativity, confidence, leadership, teamwork, discipline, physical well-being, and social responsibility through cultural, sports, and co-curricular engagement. Through these initiatives, BRAC seeks to empower young people to realize their potential and become capable, responsible, and future-ready citizens who can contribute meaningfully to the development of Bangladesh. The project duration ends on June 2027.

Job Purpose: The Area Coordinator will be responsible for providing strategic regional leadership, stakeholder coordination, and operational oversight for the Medha Bikash scholarship, Future Ready Club, and Olympiad initiatives under the BRAC Education Programme. It is a project position with an initial one-year term that drives youth capacity building to foster future readiness and academic excellence by ensuring transparent participant vetting, optimizing data systems, maintaining baseline accountability, and establishing key institutional partnerships

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct field monitoring visits to assess the accuracy of student household verifications carried out by the team.
  • Manage the regional applicant screening and validation process for Medhabikash Britti by verifying candidate information, cross-checking database records against physical verification forms, and resolving discrepancies before final selection.
  • Provide second-tier verification monthly stipend allocation lists by reviewing field transaction reports, validating regional updates, and coordinating with branch finance teams.
  • Review and compile tracking data to prepare structured monthly, quarterly, and annual area-level progress reports while maintaining accurate and reconciled digital student database and physical archives.
  • Coordinate regional outreach and application campaigns with the communication unit, engage with educational institutions and stakeholders, and conduct orientation sessions for parents and teachers.
  • Supervise and ensure the quality of student development training and life-skills workshops by monitoring session delivery, training materials, schedules, and participant attendance.
  • Design and oversee youth capacity building frameworks that equip scholars with 21st-century skills, digital literacy, and leadership to drive holistic future readiness.
  • Plan and coordinate Cultural & Sports Olympiad competitions at school, upazila, divisional, and national levels, ensuring transparent participant management and quality implementation.
  • Strengthen partnerships with schools, colleges, local government, cultural organizations, sports associations, and community leaders to promote active participation.

Safeguarding responsibilities:

  • Ensure the safety of Programme Participants, people who come into contact with the organisation and team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation including sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA) to achieve the programme's goals of safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.
  • Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place and encourage others to do so.
  • Practice, promote, and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action.

Job Requirements

Age At least 24 years Experience requirements:At least 3 to 5 years of experience in educational project management, scholarship coordination, or youth development operations.Experience in handling databases, supervising field teams, and monitoring finances is required.Additional Requirements:Knowledge of national board curriculum tracks, examination registration procedures, and secondary/higher secondary GPA evaluation structures in Bangladesh.Strong capabilities in community mobilization, stakeholder engagement and partnership management with schools, local administration, and community leaders.Strong planning, coordination, and event management skills for Future Ready Club activities and Cultural & Sports Olympiad competitions at different levels.Ability to guide and monitor student development initiatives, facilitate mentoring and capacity-building activities, and engage parents and educational institutions in supporting student growth.
