Job Description

BRAC is an international development organisation founded in Bangladesh in 1972 that partners globally with over 100 million people living with inequality and poverty to create opportunities to realise their potential.

This Position will be responsible for direct implementation, supervision, monitoring and quality ensuring of materials and construction and any other task assigned by supervisor.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervise and provide technical guidance to Field Facilitators (FFs) and Field Assistants (FAs) to ensure quality implementation of field activities.

  • Monitor the operation and maintenance of MRF, FSTPs, water supply systems, including solar powered and generator operated pumping systems, reservoirs, pipelines and tap stands, ensuring continuous supply of safe chlorinated water.

  • Support the Deputy Project Manager & Project Engineer in planning, implementing and monitoring WASH activities across assigned camps.

  • Inspect solar systems, generators, submersible pumps, inverters and other electrical and mechanical equipment, and coordinate timely maintenance and repairs.

  • Prepare technical drawings, BoQs, cost estimates and technical specifications for WASH infrastructure and electromechanical works under the guidance of the Project Engineer.

  • Conduct regular field inspections and develop maintenance plans to ensure the functionality of WASH infrastructure, including water supply, sanitation, FSM and SWM facilities.

  • Monitor water quality through routine testing, chlorination control and corrective actions to ensure safe drinking water for camp populations.

  • Ensure timely desludging of sanitation facilities through effective coordination of desludging teams and safe transportation of fecal sludge to treatment facilities.

  • Oversee the operation and maintenance of FSTPs to ensure efficient treatment processes and environmentally safe effluent discharge.

  • Supervise contractors and maintenance teams, ensuring all works comply with approved designs, specifications, quality standards and implementation schedules.

  • Verify the quality of construction materials, electrical and mechanical equipment, and support procurement by preparing Purchase Requisitions (PRs) and reviewing technical requirements.

  • Assist in site assessments, facility layout and construction supervision for new and rehabilitation works.

  • Monitor hygiene promotion activities and the condition of hygiene facilities, ensuring cleanliness, functionality and effective coordination with hygiene teams.

  • Maintain accurate records of WASH infrastructure, maintenance activities and project documentation, and prepare timely technical reports for the Deputy Project Manager and Project Engineer.

  • Coordinate with CiC offices, sector partners, contractors and support departments to ensure smooth implementation of project activities.

  • Provide technical coaching and on the job support to FFs and FAs to strengthen field performance and compliance with project standards.

  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies, engineering standards, occupational health and safety, environmental requirements and safeguarding policies.

  • Perform any other technical duties assigned by the Deputy Project Manager/ Project Engineer to support effective WASH programme implementation.

    Safeguarding:

  • Ensure the safety of Programme Participants, people who come into contact with the organisation and team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation including sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA) to achieve the programme's goals of safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.

  • Practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action.

  • Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place and encourage others to do so.

Job Requirements
