Community Mobilizer, Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR), HCMP

BRAC is an international development organisation founded in Bangladesh in 1972 that partners globally with over 100 million people living with inequality and poverty to create opportunities to realise their potential.

This position is responsible to mobilize program participants to facilitate project implementation procedures as well as to participate in the filed implementation.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Support the effective implementation of Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) activities in Rohingya camps in line with project objectives and work plans.
• Mobilize and engage community members, volunteers, local leaders, and other stakeholders to ensure active participation in DRR, preparedness, and resilience-building activities.
• Assist Community Risk Assessments (CRA), awareness sessions, training, and community-based trainings in coordination with relevant stakeholders.
• Organise and support meetings, workshops, consultations, and training sessions with community groups, committees, volunteers, and partner organizations.
• Ensure proper documentation and record-keeping of meetings, trainings, participant attendance, activity progress, and other project-related information.
• Support and mobilize community members during construction, repair, rehabilitation, and maintenance activities, while coordinating with technical teams and contractors to ensure community participation, site accessibility, and smooth implementation of field activities.
• Keep track of beneficiary participants, maintain beneficiary databases and attendance records, and prepare master rolls and participant lists for payment processing in compliance with project requirements.
• Monitor community feedback, complaints, protection concerns, and emerging issues, and report them to the supervisor in a timely and appropriate manner.
• Prepare regular field reports, activity updates, and implementation plans for upcoming activities while supporting data collection and reporting processes.

Safeguarding:

• Ensure the safety of Programme Participants, people who come into contact with the organisation and team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation including sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA) to achieve the programme's goals of safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.
• Practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action.
• Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place and encourage others to do so.

Age At least 18 years At least one year of experience in Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) activities, including community engagement, risk assessment, awareness initiatives, and implementation of resilience-building interventions. Strong knowledge of BRAC’s values and mission, development sector, and contemporary Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) practices. Basic computer proficiency in MS Office applications. Good communication and project implementation skills. Ability to facilitate group meetings and coordinate with stakeholders effectively. Strong time management and ability to manage timelines efficiently. Oral and written fluency in both Bangla and English. Capable of handling critical issues with relevant stakeholders in a professional manner.
