BRAC is an international development organisation founded in Bangladesh in 1972 that partners globally with over 100 million people living with inequality and poverty to create opportunities to realise their potential.
This position is responsible for strengthening community-based disaster preparedness and response systems through technical facilitation, capacity-building, and coordination with stakeholders. The role also ensures effective organisation and delivery of emergency preparedness training and simulations at community and institutional levels, as well as monitoring and evaluation of the project activities (training, research, mobilisation, documentation).
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Support to the development and updating of contingency plans, hazard maps, and community-based DRR action plans.
Coordinate and facilitate the implementation of project activities related to emergency preparedness, response, and community resilience building.
Conduct needs assessments, research, and contextual analyses to identify priority intervention areas, opportunities for innovation, and programme scale-up.
Assist in the design and development of training modules, guidelines, and capacity-building materials aligned with project objectives and sector standards.
Organise and facilitate training sessions, simulation exercises, workshops, and awareness activities for community volunteers, DRR committees, local authorities, and partner institutions.
Document best practices, lessons learned, case studies, and activity outcomes to support organisational learning and knowledge management.
Maintain project information management systems, reporting schedules, and documentation processes, including coordination with relevant support units on government approvals and compliance requirements
Prepare progress reports, situation reports, project completion reports, and other programme documentation in accordance with donor and organisational requirements.
Support fundraising and business development initiatives through proposal coordination, work-plan preparation, information gathering, and progress tracking.
Ensure project implementation complies with donor requirements, organisational policies, and relevant sectoral standards, guidelines, and accountability frameworks.
Safeguarding:
Ensure the safety of Programme Participants, people who come into contact with the organisation and team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation including sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA) to achieve the programme`s goals of safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.
Practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action.
Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place and encourage others to do so.
Age At least 18 years Minimum 2 years of experience in Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR), project management, research, emergency preparedness and response, training module development, or other relevant fields within the NGO/INGO development sector.KNOWLEDGE: Strong understanding of BRAC’s values and mission, Humanitarian Principles, Disaster Management, and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).Knowledge of the global development scenario and emerging funding trends. Sound understanding of financial and grants management, donor compliance, and donor agencies.SKILLS: Budgeting, communication, research, and report writing skills. Monitoring, evaluation, and auditing skills. Project management and effective project implementation skills.COMPETENCIES: Ability to facilitate group meetings and coordinate effectively with stakeholders. Strong time management and ability to manage timelines efficiently. Oral and written fluency in both Bangla and English. Capable of handling critical issues professionally with relevant stakeholders.
