Medical Laboratory Technologist- Laboratory Services

• Supervise the day-to-day activities of the Clinical Laboratory and ensure smooth and timely completion of all laboratory services.

• Receive, verify, label, process, and assess patient specimens for suitability before testing.

• Coordinate with the respective ward regarding insufficient, hemolyzed, improperly collected, or improperly transported inpatient samples and report unresolved issues to the HOD.

• Perform and supervise routine and specialized laboratory tests, including Microbiology, Culture & Sensitivity, staining, and other clinical laboratory investigations, as applicable.

• Ensure timely analysis of all samples, monitor pending work, and take necessary action to avoid delays in reporting.

• Perform scheduled Quality Control (QC) procedures, review QC results, and report any significant quality issues to the HOD.

• Maintain proper laboratory safety, infection prevention, sterility, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) at all times.

• Monitor the condition and performance of laboratory machines, instruments, and equipment; report breakdowns to the Biomedical Engineering Department and follow up on necessary maintenance.

• Maintain reagent and consumable inventory, store records, wastage statistics, equipment breakage/loss records, and other required laboratory documentation.

• Prepare and maintain statistical reports on laboratory tests performed, reagent consumption, and percentage of wastage.

• Ensure proper custody and accountability of laboratory reagents, equipment, apparatus, and other departmental assets.

• Handle critical laboratory values by promptly communicating with the treating physician and maintaining appropriate documentation.

• Participate in training, educational programs, quality improvement activities, and other professional development initiatives.

• Perform any other duties and responsibilities assigned by the HOD or Management.
