We are seeking an experienced DGM / GM – Sustainability & Compliance to provide strategic leadership for the organization’s ESG, environmental, and responsible business initiatives. This role will ensure strict adherence to local regulations, international certifications, and buyer codes of conduct, while driving continuous improvement in sustainability performance across all internal operations and the broader supply chain.
Strategic Leadership & Governance
- Develop and lead the organization’s overall Sustainability & ESG strategy, aligning with business objectives, global best practices, and buyer expectations.
- Establish a robust sustainability governance framework, integrating ESG principles into operational decision-making, investment planning, and supply-chain management to foster a strong sustainability culture.
- Identify opportunities to improve cost and operational efficiency, environmental performance, and overall business competitiveness through targeted sustainability initiatives.
Environmental & ESG Performance
- Drive the organization’s sustainability roadmap, including energy/water conservation, waste/chemical management, circularity, and long-term Net Zero/carbon reduction initiatives.
- Establish and monitor key Environmental & Sustainability KPIs (GHG emissions, carbon footprint, resource efficiency) and benchmark organizational performance against global standards.
- Lead and oversee assessment programs such as the Higg Index (FEM/FSLM) and ensure comprehensive environmental risk management.
Compliance, Audits & Certifications
- Ensure strict compliance with local environmental and labor regulations, buyer Codes of Conduct (CoC), and international industry standards.
- Oversee all major social, technical, environmental, and ESG audits, acting as the lead for certifications such as GRS, OCS, GOTS, etc.
- Drive the effective preparation, implementation, and closure of Corrective Action Plans (CAP) arising from audits, assessments, and compliance reviews.
Stakeholder Management & Reporting
- Act as the senior representative for the organization with international buyers, regulatory authorities, certification bodies, and industry associations.
- Prepare and present comprehensive ESG/Sustainability reports, KPI tracking, and CAP status to the Managing Director, CEO, and Board of Directors.
- Keep senior management consistently updated on evolving climate legislation, international ESG frameworks, and shifts in buyer standards.
Supply Chain & Team Development
- Establish supplier sustainability requirements, conduct periodic risk assessments, and monitor performance across the broader supply chain.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the Sustainability & Compliance team, ensuring clear responsibilities and building long-term organizational capability.
- Develop and implement organization-wide training and awareness programs for management, employees, suppliers, and external partners.
