Resident Medical Officer - Hematology & SCT

Clinical Responsibilities

• Patient ManagementAssist in the admission, discharge, and daily care of patients with hematologic disorders and those undergoing stem cell transplantation.

• Monitor and document patient progress, including vital signs, laboratory results, and clinical status, under the supervision of consultants.

• Identify and report signs of complications.

• Assist in procedures such as bone marrow aspirations, biopsies, and stem cell infusions as guided by senior clinicians.

• Prepare patients for diagnostic tests, chemotherapy, or other treatments by explaining procedures and obtaining informed consent.

• Collaborate with nurses, pharmacists, and other healthcare providers to ensure the implementation of treatment plans.

• Facilitate communication with Hematology On call number- between patients, families, and the care team to address concerns and provide updates.

Emergency and On-Call Duties

•  Provide first-line response to patient emergencies during shifts and communicate to senior medical staff as necessary.

• Participate in a rotating on-call schedule for inpatient care and post-transplant monitoring.
