Position Overview
The Graphic Design Manager will lead the Graphics team and oversee the development of high-quality visual artwork for custom sports apparel. This role is responsible for managing the design process from concept to final productionready output while ensuring brand consistency, creative excellence, and timely delivery.
This position goes beyond design execution - it focuses on:
Leading and mentoring a team of graphic designers.
Maintaining strong brand and artwork standards across all design projects.
Managing multiple design priorities from concept to completion.
Collaborating with cross-functional teams to support apparel production and customer requirements.
Improving creative workflows, design quality, and production readiness.
The ideal candidate is a strong creative leader with excellent design judgment, strong English communication skills, and hands-on experience in apparel graphics, production processes, and team management.

Key Responsibilities
Creative Leadership & Team Management
Lead, guide, and mentor the graphic design team to achieve high-quality creative output.
Assign design tasks, review progress, and provide clear feedback to designers.
Support team development through coaching, process guidance, and design reviews.
Ensure the team meets deadlines while maintaining accuracy and creativity.
Design Process & Brand Standards
Manage the graphic design process from concept development to final approval.
Ensure all designs follow Bardown Sports brand standards, customer requirements, and production guidelines.
Review and approve final artwork before production or stakeholder presentation.
Maintain consistency in layout, typography, colors, logos, and design execution.
Project Management & Cross-Functional Collaboration
Manage multiple design projects simultaneously and ensure timely delivery.
Coordinate with sales, customer service, sourcing, production, and other internal teams as required.
Present design concepts and final artwork clearly to stakeholders.
Identify project risks, timeline issues, and quality concerns early and recommend solutions.

Production-Ready Artwork & Quality Control
Prepare and review artwork suitable for apparel production processes such as sublimation, screen printing, and embroidery.
Ensure design files are accurate, organized, and ready for production use.
Check artwork details including sizing, placement, alignment, colors, spelling, numbers, names, and logos.
Work to reduce errors, revisions, and production delays through strong quality control.
Trend Research & Process Improvement
Research sports apparel trends, design styles, and competitor visuals to support fresh creative direction.
Recommend improvements to design workflows, templates, and approval processes.
Help create scalable systems for faster, more accurate, and more consistent design
Previous experience managing a graphics or creative design team – mandatory. Proven experience in graphic design, preferably within sports apparel, fashion, or custom apparel. Strong portfolio or presentation of work demonstrating creativity, design quality, and technical ability – mandatory. Strong proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign. Strong understanding of design principles, layout techniques, typography, color, and visual hierarchy. Knowledge of print and production processes for apparel graphics. Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal – mandatory. Strong leadership, organization, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work independently in a remote environment. Passion for sports and familiarity with sports apparel trends. Nice to Have Previous experience in the fashion, apparel, or sportswear industry. Knowledge of screen printing, sublimation, embroidery, and related apparel decoration methods. Knowledge of sports such as hockey, baseball, lacrosse, soccer, and related teamwear categories. Experience improving design templates, production artwork systems, or creative team workflows. Remote Work Requirements Must have a high-performance personal PC or laptop. Equipment will not be provided by the organization. Reliable high-speed internet connection with backup internet and power support. Quiet, professional, and distraction-free workspace suitable for meetings and remote collaboration. Ability to work the assigned night shift schedule consistently and maintain professional availability during working hours. Must be available to work according to the Ontario, Canada business calendar and observe Ontario statutory/public holidays as required by the organization.
