Job Description

Job Purpose

To ensure uninterrupted, safe, and efficient operation of all electrical systems, automation, instrumentation, and production machinery across the Knitting, Dyeing, and Finishing departments by executing preventive, predictive, corrective, and breakdown maintenance. The incumbent will be responsible for maximizing equipment reliability, minimizing production downtime, improving operational efficiency, supporting automation initiatives, ensuring statutory and buyer compliance, and contributing to continuous improvement through world-class maintenance practices.

Key Responsibilities

Electrical Maintenance

  • Execute preventive, predictive, corrective, and breakdown maintenance of electrical systems and production machinery in the Knitting, Dyeing, and Finishing departments.

  • Diagnose and rectify faults in motors, VFDs, PLCs, HMIs, MCCs, PCCs, transformers, switchgears, electrical panels, sensors, instrumentation, and control systems.

  • Ensure maximum machine availability by minimizing electrical breakdowns and responding promptly to maintenance requests.

  • Perform periodic inspection, testing, calibration, and maintenance of electrical equipment to ensure reliable operation.

  • Maintain proper electrical protection systems and ensure machine interlocks function effectively.


Knitting, Dyeing & Finishing Support

  • Provide uninterrupted electrical maintenance support for Circular Knitting, Dyeing, Finishing, Compacting, Slitting, Relax Drying, Calendaring, Raising, Sueding, Open Width Washing, Hydro Extraction, Fabric Inspection, and Packing operations.

  • Support machine installation, commissioning, relocation, modification, and capacity expansion projects.

  • Troubleshoot automation, instrumentation, and process control systems to ensure stable production.

  • Coordinate with Production, Mechanical Maintenance, Utility, Quality, and Industrial Engineering teams to minimize downtime and improve machine efficiency.

  • Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) of recurring equipment failures and implement corrective and preventive actions.


Automation & Instrumentation

  • Maintain PLC, HMI, SCADA, industrial communication systems, sensors, transmitters, encoders, and process control equipment.

  • Troubleshoot instrumentation related to temperature, pressure, flow, level, pH, conductivity, steam control, humidity, and fabric tension systems.

  • Support automation upgrades, machine modifications, and digitalization initiatives to improve production efficiency.

  • Ensure calibration and accuracy of critical process instruments.


Maintenance Planning & Continuous Improvement

  • Execute preventive and predictive maintenance according to the approved maintenance schedule.

  • Perform condition monitoring using thermal imaging, insulation resistance testing, vibration analysis, motor current analysis, and other predictive maintenance tools.

  • Participate in TPM, Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, and Continuous Improvement initiatives.

  • Recommend modifications to improve equipment reliability, reduce downtime, and enhance productivity.


Energy Management

  • Monitor electrical energy consumption and identify opportunities for energy conservation and cost optimization.

  • Support initiatives related to motor efficiency, VFD optimization, and power factor improvement.

  • Recommend energy-efficient maintenance practices without affecting production performance.


Safety, Compliance & Quality

  • Ensure compliance with company policies, electrical safety standards, Bangladesh Labour Act, BNBC, and applicable statutory regulations.

  • Follow Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Permit-to-Work (PTW), PPE requirements, and safe electrical work practices.

  • Support compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, buyer requirements, and environmental standards.

  • Participate in safety inspections, audits, and implementation of corrective actions.


Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain preventive maintenance records, machine history cards, calibration records, breakdown reports, and maintenance logs.

  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance reports, downtime analysis, and equipment reliability reports.

  • Coordinate with the Store and Procurement teams to ensure the timely availability of critical electrical spare parts.

  • Perform any other duties assigned by the Department Head or Management.

Job Requirements

Age At least 25 years Minimum 2–5 years of relevant experience in Electrical Maintenance within a large-scale Knitting, Dyeing, and Finishing textile manufacturing environment.Experience in Knit Composite Textile, Textile, Garments, or Group of Companies will be preferred.Strong knowledge of HT/LT electrical distribution systems, transformers, switchgears, MCC, PCC, APFC panels, generators, motors, VFDs, soft starters, electrical protection systems, and power distribution networks.Hands-on experience in PLC, HMI, SCADA, industrial automation, industrial networking (Profinet, Profibus, Modbus), industrial instrumentation, sensors, transmitters, encoders, and process control systems.Practical experience in preventive, predictive, corrective, and breakdown maintenance of modern Knitting, Dyeing, and Finishing machinery.Experience working with Circular Knitting Machines, Soft Flow Dyeing Machines, Jet Dyeing Machines, Stenters, Compactors, Relax Dryers, Slitters, Calendars, Open Width Washing Machines, Hydro Extractors, Fabric Inspection Machines, Automatic Chemical Dosing Systems, and Dilmenler machines will be an added advantage.Sound knowledge of electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, control schematics, single-line diagrams (SLD), P&IDs, and equipment manuals.Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills with the ability to resolve electrical and automation issues under minimum supervision.Knowledge of TPM, Preventive Maintenance, Predictive Maintenance, Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, and Continuous Improvement methodologies.Good communication, analytical, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.Proficient in MS Office applications; knowledge of CMMS or ERP-based maintenance systems will be an added advantage.
