Introduction:
The RMG Sustainability Council (RSC) is an unprecedented private national tripartite initiative to carry forward the significant accomplishments made in workplace safety in Bangladesh. The RSC was set up by three incorporating members representing each of the three constituents from Industry, Global Fashion Brands and Global and Local Trade Unions.
The RSC conducts structural, electrical, fire & life safety and boiler safety inspections, supports and monitors remediation, conducts safety training, and operates an independent occupational safety & health complaints mechanism available to workers in covered RMG factories.

Boiler Safety Department:
Launched in December 2020, the RSC Boiler Safety Department determines the reasons behind any potential boiler failure in the factories and outlines mitigation measures through initial and follow-up inspections. The department maintains close collaboration with the ILO, the Accord and the Government of Bangladesh’s Chief Inspector of Boilers (CIoB) along with the Brands and the Unions. Currently, we have 21 boiler safety engineers in the department.
Overall Job Purpose:
The Coordinator is a part of the Boiler Safety department of the RSC team in Bangladesh. The role reports into the Head/ Team Leader of Boiler Safety and is based in the RSC office in Bangladesh.
The role is responsible for doing work in their assigned area for practical execution of data analysis, monitoring, and recording. The role assists in the execution of day-to-day inspection scheduling and related operations of the department, regular reporting, data management & analysis, dashboard preparation &live update, and all other activities related to data monitoring, recording and analysis and management.
Key Responsibility Areas & Key Activities:
Scheduling Coordination and Support in Execution of Factory Inspections
Assist the Head/Team Leader to the RSC inspection and scheduling program, including inspection capacity calculations & assigning inspector under the jurisdiction of the Head of Boiler safety
Provide support to factory to arrange meetings with the RSC engineers and taking minutes
Assist Head/Team Leader to identify risks by data analysis and presentation
Maintain inspection toolbox and tool items record and be the key contact for the tool distribution
Coordinate with RPD team in update the status of remediation, meeting, solutions and update of critical safety items.
Communicate with the factory regarding the readiness of the boiler and remediation of critical safety items.
Interact with factories, senior and junior staffs alike
Receive and collect Overtime Sheet, D/A claim from the colleagues and dispatch it to the accounts department
Creation of Dashboard and Reports
Produce monthly dashboard-reports based on the excel data in guidance of the Head, Team Leader and Senior Safety Engineer with RSC protocols in a timely manner.
Prepare data analysis reports and presentation and assist the Head/Team Leader to achieve the departmental goals.
Prepare analysis report on monthly target for inspection, factory remediation on boiler issues and review queries and report to Head/Team leader as assigned.
Publication and Data Management
Record accurate, detailed, and verified qualitative and quantitative data and case files for each assigned factory and update the leadership and senior management.
Record Keeping, Communication, Arrange Meetings and Execution of Team Plans
Perform necessary communication with other teams and the factory to ensure better coordination for inspection capacity calculations & scheduling, remediation plans and to fulfil the objectives of various projects and initiatives
Ensure and record the delivery of the task properly to the stakeholders and the related external or internal parties
Assist the Head/Team Leader with the remediation plans and enforcement of OSH complaint and SCWT mechanism and resolutions
Arrange meetings with the factories on technical issues in order for the department to provide service and technical support to the factories
Perform as key contact in communication for the data management and monitoring system
Perform as key contact in arranging meetings with stakeholders when required
Ensure mutual respect across the department and at interdepartmental levels
Experience:At least 2 years of demonstrated experience in data management or data processing, dashboard analysis and presentationExcellent organisational and recordkeeping experience to manage information and documentation for many individual factory corrective action plansKey Skills:Technical and practical proficiency data record and analysis. Engineering education and experience will be considered as an advantage but not mandatoryExperience of maintaining the workplace safety codes/standards and having safety training will be considered as an advantage but not mandatoryProficiency in written and spoken EnglishProficiency with data processing and spreadsheet programs (excellent Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint and Microsoft Word), efficient use and management of e-mail communications; and ability to manage data on multiple individual casesKnowledge and experience on Power automate, Power Query, Power BI, Visual basic, Python will be preferred. Professionalism, discretion, and the ability to cope with stressful situationsIntegrity, honesty, a strong work ethic, and commitment to the goals of the RSC and the RMG industryStrong communication skills, with the ability to build excellent working relationshipsAbility to plan, arrange and deliver event is an advantage
